"Placid Closeness" - Sandokan fanart

Illustration I did for a fanzine about books and novels from the 1800s.
The theme to be captured had to be on intimacy and alchemy in everyday life between main characters, from behind the scenes.
The relationship between Sandokan, Yanez and Marianna (even if she was with them for a short time), has always been very dear to me. And this is the way I imagine it! :)

Emilio Salgari is one of my favourite writers of all time because, even though he has never visited the amazingly exotic locations that he describes so passionately and in detail, he still manages to convey the feeling of adventure, exploration and "real" that surrounds the characters and events.

I had the pleasure of "reading" the Malaysian saga about Sandokan and his exploits only in the last two years, through audio books, while I was working (I only had the time to read the first book properly)! ^^
